About gezart

Gezart is a term often used by Hunter S. Thompson. Of Appalachian origin, it means “Shit, I should have known!” Having completed a BA in Fine Art, Gerallt went on to gain a Masters’ Degree in Design & Art Direction at Manchester Metropolitan University. He is now established as an artist and illustrator, based in North Wales. His recent work includes a Residency in West Wales at Powerhouse Gallery & Community Centre, Llandysul & Pont Tyweli, where he completed a number of successful & lively community workshops & presentations, working with residents of all ages, to create a scroll, depicting the locality’s rich heritage. More recently, Gerallt has exhibited his work at a number of Galleries across Wales, appearing on S4C’s programme Wedi Tri, to discuss his art project & exhibition on Mabinogi at The Welsh Gold Centre, Tregaron, in September 2011. He has worked on several projects & commissions for individuals & businesses, including a challenging brief for a local Media Solutions company, Ogwen Publishers. Gerallt is at present Chair of the North Wales art group, CASC, whose members are all practising artists with individual studio space at Garage Street, Llandudno. In addition to their personal artistic projects, they support newly qualified & aspiring artists, helping them arrange exhibitions in the CASC project space, providing advice & networking opportunities. Members of the group also co-operate to engage with local residents, working together on various ideas, creating art events within the community & have secured funding & support from the Arts Council of Wales. Gerallt has provided a variety of thematic educational art workshops at primary & secondary level, seeing the importance of his role as one who tries to inspire and nurture pupils’ interest & curiosity in the world around them, their creation of personal art, leading & giving them confidence to explore possibilities whilst creating visual records in the classroom or in the gallery. He is involved with & also leads workshops at Wales’s largest publicly funded contemporary Gallery, Oriel Mostyn in Llandudno. In his artistic practice he has recently been focussing upon personal & contemporary themes in society, the psychological effects of new media in shaping our pre occupations & obsessions. His passion & future ambition are to continue developing personal artistic techniques & skills through developmental projects at an international level, gaining experience through co-operation, discussion & exploration with other artists, working in similar & other media. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
